Morell River Run Festival Committee Provides Alternative To Door-to-Door Trick-or-Treating
With weather reports promising a wet, windy and generally miserable Halloween evening for Island trick-or-treaters, a small group of volunteers in the village of Morell has pulled together an option to help keep community children safe and dry on Wednesday evening.
A village Halloween Party will take place at the Morell Fire Hall on October 31 from 5pm-8pm. Residents are welcome to stop by and hand out treats to the little ones and parents who come to enjoy the festivities with their own children are encouraged to bring some treats from home to share as well.
The goal of the party, according to organizers, is to provide an alternative for parents who would rather not take their young children out in unfavorable weather conditions, in case Sandy makes things miserable. Jaime Lee Mann says, Several parents have shared similar concerns of having young children out in the wet windy weather, so we decided to host a little party to make sure that the kids dont have to miss out on any Halloween fun. Everyone is welcome, but its certainly not a requirement to skip trick-or-treating and to come to the party. It’s very last minute! Were just putting the option out there.
Volunteers will be at the Fire Hall from 5pm until 8pm, facilitating good clean fun, and handing out candy to the communitys little ghosts and goblins.
